Harju County

In summer, Harju County is undoubtedly the best holiday destination for the holidaymakers without a definite plan of how to spend their holiday; nearness to Tallinn and beautiful seashores are considered as advantages here. There are possibilities for everyone for an active holiday – a day out at sea in a boat or kayak or yacht, fishing, diving, wind-surfing; lovely harbours and splendid hiking trails. There are also many opportunities for horse riding. A day can be spent at the children’s amusement park  Vembu-Tembumaa, and for golf players, there are high-level golf courses at Niitvälja and Jõelähtme.

The Laitse Rally Park is a fascinating leisure place for a whole family as well as the Laitse Granite Villa where one can try out sculpting in the workshop of the famous sculptor Tauno Kangro. Art lovers should not miss the Viinistu Art Museum or the Amandus Adamson Studio Museum in Paldiski. Fascinating events take place in the Padise Monastery, there is a cosy hotel at Padise Manor . The Saue Manor complex is one of the best examples of the Estonian early classicistic architecture, Maardu Manor being similarly gorgeous and stunning. Accommodation and nutriment are also provided by Saku Manor, next to which there is the Saku Brewhouse whouse together with the Museum of Beer where one can order excursions to the Saku Brewery.

Running down the coastal limestone cliff, the rivers form waterfalls, the most abundant in water and the highest of which are the Jägala Waterfall, being 8 m high, and the Keila Waterfall, being 6,1 m high with the terrace of 60-70 m in width. Here and there the limestone coast is exposed in cliffs up to 30 m high, such as at Rannamõisa and Türisalu. An experience on its own would be visiting the islands of Harju County, the most interesting of which are the islands of Prangli, Naissaar, Suur-Pakri (Big-Pakri) and Väike-Pakri (Small-Pakri).
